At Christ Church Glenrock, we welcome you to join us for our worship services and community gatherings. Our schedule is designed to offer a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth and connection.

We offer Sunday School for children on Sunday mornings during the church service, and appreciate the love our teachers share with them each week. You can enjoy the blessings children bring by sharing lessons, crafts, music and activities with them.

Children's Ministry

We gather at 8:30am on Sunday mornings for inquiry and discussion of the lectionary readings from Scripture each week. We also occasionally read and study from other literature and resources. We hope you’ll join us, all are welcome.

Faith Formation

Our worship service includes singing hymns and other songs. We currently enjoy piano accompaniment, and also welcome new musicians - whatever your specialty, we invite you to participate in our worship through music.

FAQs

What should I expect?

When you arrive one of our greeters will hand you a service bulletin. It will guide you through our service and help you to participate as fully as you are comfortable. We encourage you to ask for any help you may need. Worship usually begins by listening to scripture readings and prayer. We then gather around God’s table, sharing Holy Communion.

What about the bread and wine?

We use wine during Communion and a gluten-free wafer is also available. You may choose to receive none, both or either of these, or a blessing from the priest at the altar rail instead. ALL are welcome to share in this bread of life and cup of salvation. If you prefer not to receive Holy Communion, you may come forward for a blessing. Crossing your forearms over your chest indicates to the priest that you are there for a blessing. After the blessing, simply return to your pew.

Standing, sitting & kneeling?

You may see each of these postures when you visit, depending on the season of the church. If a given posture is difficult for you, please choose another that is comfortable for you.

What should I wear?

Please wear whatever makes you comfortable - come as you are!

What about children?

Children are always welcome at Sunday services! We believe the sound of children is praise expressed in small voices. We also have a Sunday School time most Sunday mornings and your children are welcome to participate.

What does the Episcopal Church believe?

Much of what we believe can be found in our Baptismal Covenant or in Episcopal Traditions. Here it is in part: I will proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ… I will seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving my neighbor as myself… I will strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being… A summary of what we believe begins on page 845 in the Book of Common Prayer.

Accessiblity?

We have ramps available at the south entrances to our building, on the southeast side for the main level of the church, on the southwest side for our kitchen and parish hall. We are happy to show you around.

Offering of Money?

A regular part of our worship is returning to God a portion of what God has given to us. This occurs in our service when the announcements are completed. As a visitor, you are under no obligation to participate in this offering. However, please feel free to do so if you wish.

How to we view LGBTQIA?

We believe God's love is for everyone. We welcome and affirm people of all genders, sexual orientations, backgrounds, ages, and life experiences as full participants in the life and leadership of our communities.
